The Aquarium was built in 1912 following the idea of the Bulgarian king Ferdinand. In the central hall one can see a large collection of sea and freshwater fish in their natural environment. There are about 140 fish species in Bulgarian coastal waters, including dolphins. There are not man-eating sharks.
