The Sea Garden in Varna

Upon leaving the Roman Thermal Baths or the Museum of Medicine you can head to the Sea Garden in Varna. The eight-kilometer park is right on the beach, and with its rare trees and exotic plants it is the second emblem of the city.

Towards the end of the 19th C the Czech landscaper Anton Novak intertwined in an inimitable way Baroque motifs and the famous Viennese style in landscaping in the architecture of the attraction called Sea Garden.

A sun clock is built at the entrance to the to the garden in the form of a stylized swan. In the 50s of the 20th C. in this place stood the statue of Stalin and the city bore his name. Later, in the sixties the old name of the city was returned and the monument was dismantled.

Walking down the Sea Garden you will pass by the Sea Casino an the Shell Stage, which was popular in the recent past, where now each Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from the beginning of May until the end of September brass bands play music.

After passing the Alpineum you will reach the Summer theater of Varna. Built as an amphitheater among the picturesque greenery of the park, it is an attraction for all admirers of ballet. For almost fifty years it hosts the International Ballet Competition. Apart from that in summer the theater scene hosts a great number of cultural events of local, national and international importance.

Terrarium "Exotic Zoo" – part of the Museum of Nature and Science. There is the most varied collection of terrarium animals in Bulgaria.
